In 2017, Gibbons collaborated with SF Bay Area filmmaker Matthew Washburn to shoot some intimate, unplugged performances with cellist Rebecca Roudman and guitarist Max Delaney. These songs have been studio recorded and will be released sometime later this year.
Since 2012, Gibbons has been collaborating with Waterlust, a film collective made up of adventurers, scientists, athletes, and artists. In 2012 Gibbons released his debut effort, a music video shot entirely with GoPro cameras in the Bay Area for his single "Swells and Storms". The film wound up being showcased at the 2013 San Francisco International Ocean Film Festival and paved the way for two more international surf films: Ola Libre, which was shot in Havana, Cuba in 2013, and Down the Line, shot in Chicama, Peru in 2014.
